Take a stroll through Saly town, and explore local markets, shops, and get a sense of the local atmosphere.

Arrive in Saint-Louis around midday and check into your hotel.  Spend the afternoon exploring the historic island of Saint-Louis. Visit Palace Faidherbe, named after the French governor, and built around 18 century. Travelers can also stroll through the charming streets with colonial architecture.

In the late afternoon travelers will head to the fishing wharf to witness the bustling activity of the local fishermen. Saint-Louis has a vibrant fishing community, and the colorful boats and daily catch provide a fascinating sight.  Travelers will also Visit the nearby Langue de Barbarie, the narrow sandbar separating the Senegal River from the Atlantic Ocean. Day 6: Pink Lake

Typically, the journey by car takes around 3 to 4 hours from St Louis to Lake Retba, also known as Lac Rose or Pink Lake. Arrive at Lake Retba and check in at a hotel or accommodation near the lake.

Spend the late morning at Lake Retba. Take a boat tour to appreciate the pink hues caused by the Dunaliella salina algae.  Travelers will also explore the salt marshes around the lake and witness the traditional salt harvesting process. Learn about the labor-intensive work of extracting salt from the lake. You may also have the opportunity to interact with the local salt harvesters.

Travelers can relax at the nearby beach and enjoy the serene surroundings of Lake Retba. Explore the surrounding dunes. You can take a guided tour or walk around to appreciate the unique landscape, and capture panoramic views of the Pink Lake from the dunes.
