Day 1: Arrival in Cotonou

Upon arriving at Cotonou-Cadjehoun Airport around 10 a.m., you will be welcomed by your tour guide who then assist you at the airport and arrange for currency exchange if needed. Afterwards, you will be driven to your hotel (Atlantic Luxury Hotel) and Aqua Park, where you can settle in and converse with your guide. During this chat, they will overview the exciting journey ahead. You can relax and unwind in the evening in preparation for tomorrow’s adventures.

Day 2: Cotonou City Tour

After breakfast, we will embark on a journey through Benin's rich cultural tapestry. Our first stop will be the Ethnographic Museum, offering a deep dive into the country's diverse cultures and history. Here, we'll uncover ancient artefacts, traditional crafts, and insightful exhibits that illuminate Benin's heritage. Next, we'll immerse ourselves in the vibrant atmosphere of Dantokpa Market, one of West Africa's largest markets. With its bustling energy and a vast array of goods, the market is a sensory delight, offering everything from local produce to artisanal crafts. In the evening, we'll savour a delicious Beninese supper before retiring to our hotel, filled with the memories and experiences of our day's exploration.

Day 3: Ouidah - Birthplace of Voodoo

On this day, right after breakfast, we will journey to Ouidah by road, a scenic drive that will take approximately 1 hour and 2 minutes. Upon arrival, our first stop will be the renowned Python Temple, an important spiritual site in the region. The temple is home to dozens of pythons, which are revered and considered sacred by the local Vodun practitioners. Visitors can learn about the significance of these creatures in the Vodun religion and even have the opportunity to interact with them under the guidance of temple caretakers. Next, we will explore the Sacred Forest of Kpasse. This lush, serene area is steeped in mysticism and history, believed to be the final resting place of King Kpasse, the founder of Ouidah. On this day, after breakfast, we will embark on a boat trip from Ouidah to Ganvie, a journey of about an hour. Ganvie is a unique stilted village on Lake Nokoué, where the Tofinu people have lived for centuries. As we navigate the tranquil waters, you will experience the daily life of this vibrant community. Observe their traditional fishing techniques, visit floating markets, and see homes perched on stilts above the water. Today, right after breakfast, we will travel to Abomey, the historic capital of the Dahomey Kingdom.
